3D Printed Sand Casting — Aluminium, In-House Printer
Shandong Wanrong Mould & Die runs a 3D sand printer in its own plant in Shouguang and pours aluminium into the printed molds. The process is used for prototypes, complex internal cavities and short runs that do not justify a wooden pattern. Iron and steel are not poured here.
A printed sand mold needs no wooden pattern. That is why this line exists next to, not instead of, conventional sand casting.
The printer is on site. We will not describe it as in-house if it were a subcontractor. Printer model, build size and minimum wall thickness will be published when they are confirmed — they are not guessed here.
When this is the right process
A new aluminium part with no pattern budget, a cavity that a wooden pattern cannot form, or a handful of pieces before the production tool is cut. Send the 3D file.
How the mold is made here
Aluminium mold bodies are cast in our own foundry, then CNC-machined, assembled and trialled in the same plant. We do not buy in cast blanks.
What we need to quote
- Drawing, 3D file (STEP / IGES / DWG) or a photograph of the finished part
- Shape-moulding machine brand, model and platen size, if you already have a press
- Material to be moulded: EPS, EPP or lost-foam pattern
- Expected annual volume and number of cavities you want
- Destination country, so we can reply in your working hours
Related molds
Low Pressure Sand Casting
Aluminium castings by low-pressure sand casting. The same foundry that casts our mold bodies takes in outside work.
Lost Foam Pattern Molds
Molds that produce EPS patterns for lost-foam casting — a foundry tool, not a packaging tool.
Send a drawing. We will come back with a tooling proposal.
A 2D drawing, a 3D file or a photograph of the finished part is enough to start. Name your shape-moulding machine if you already have one. We reply on business days, Monday to Friday, 09:00–18:00 China Standard Time (UTC+8).
